First view… we have arrived at the port of Barcelona! Not quite ready to get out of bed to start the day, I snapped this photo with covers pulled up from my cozy bed. Sad to leave the ship, but thankful to have more adventures in the days ahead!
After a good night sleep, I was up and ready to start the day! Still worn out from my work schedule, my plan was to take it easy.
Crazy summer comes to an end and vacation season begins! We start this “season” with a family vacation to our former home, Kauai. My kids were especially happy to their home turf!
Everywhere we’ve visited, including Winchester, we have seen tributes to the England’s new royalty. There are magazines, Christmas ornaments, pictures, dolls… lots of memorabilia honoring the new King and his bride. One common attitude, is a bit of a distaste for King Charles’ wife…It may be the areas we are visiting, but it has been the general consensus so far.
We enjoyed a nice free breakfast at our hotel in Bournemouth… jumped in our rented car to head for two nights in Bath. Lots to see on our way… This photo is one hint of what we found today.
The year was 2018… the month August… we experienced a rare nonrev travel nightmare. (Here is the link to refresh your memory Nonrev Nightmare). Once again… five years later, we endured another crazy turn of events.
All good things must come to an end… at least for a short time. It was a great trip. I am now a giant fan of the Balkan and look forward to spending years exploring the entire region. Time to take a quick look back at the past month, things I will miss… Click on the photo to see some additional pics…
Sorry I couldn’t stay awake yesterday to finish our adventure in Novi Sad! Today starts with the continuation of our time at the fortress. Stunning! Then adventuring in City Centre. The above photo was a 5 hundred billion dollar bill that Mihajlo carries around to remind himself of the days of extreme inflation brought on by their time under Communism. He explained that the system looked good on paper… and probably served his parents better. But it failed because there was no incentive for anyone to work… so the economy collapsed. Fascinating information… Click the photo to see the beauty of Novi Sad.
