Day Two in Paradise

Day Two in Paradise

Starting the day out on the lanai… with my Bailey’s and coffee! This cute little friend joined me! For some reason, he had no fear of me. My phone came out to take a picture and it didn’t phase him. The smell of breakfast carries through the air from next door. Soon I’ll head over into the family fun!

Seems we were all slow moving after a long day of travel and the excitement of all being together! Honestly, I could sit here sipping coffee and staring at the view all day! Our plan… a little pool time, beach time and awaiting the arrival of our friends from Tahoe. Lovingly known as “Wexa”, we invited them to spend a few days celebrating their first anniversary.

After a hearty breakfast with the family, we split up and went separate ways. My plan was to do very little… the kids wanted to play in the pool so we gathered our things and walked down the beautiful path. Always up for a game or two, I brought Five Crowns to play with my Granddaughter. She better not beat me!!!

“E” loves the water! He did a little swimming but mostly circled along the edge of the pool. “S” played on her phone in between playing her hand. Of course she beat me like usual! Somehow, she always comes out the winner!

One edge of the pool deck beautiful blooming Plumeria tree provided our shade. Dad decided to add a flower to his gorgeous wahine! Sitting under the tree was so relaxing! With my inability to spend much time in the sun, half of the things I love to do are out of the question! So pool time will have to be later in the day! We had a high top table with four barstools to play games. Perfect!

Later in the day, we headed toward the shore to search for sea creatures. Reef walks can be very fun… Little pools of water between the lava rock can hold many special sea treasures! Not the easiest walk, sometimes help is much appreciated!

On the edge of the grassy area at Poipu Beach Park, is the perfect place for a family photo shoot! We started with the Grandkids… posing on the tree stump wasn’t exactly their idea of fun. With the ocean in the background and the rocky shoreline, it made for good photo content.

The sun was in the exact spot that made it difficult to shoot the way I wanted. Maybe try another day if we think of it?

Not easy getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time! We did our best…

Maybe a little “Aunty Advice”?

These two aren’t thrilled with my nonstop clicking of the camera! Only a fraction of what I took are being posted… yes, I have a disorder! Excellent weather, a quiet spot to hang out… Just off to the right were crowds gathered around the sea turtles.

It’s a rare moment that this Mama has all three of her ducklings… so thanks to Caroline, we got a nice photo of the four of us! This will be framed :-)

Just in time for the finale of our sunset. We were hoping for a green flash but there were way too many clouds on the horizon. Still, the orange skies did not disappoint! Relaxing on the lanai with the view made working all the crazy hours worthwhile!

Before leaving Tahoe, our friends received notice that their interisland flight from Maui to Lihue had been canceled. Hawaiian Airlines rebooked them on a later flight. Instead of arriving at 2pm, they arrived at 5 or later. We enjoyed dinner, cocktails and conversation.

Worn out by the long day and sunshine, most were winding down. The three of us decided to visit Stevenson’s Library at the Hyatt Regency Kauai. Years ago, I worked there as a cocktail waitress. It was a fun job with a fantastic view! Even though 20+ years had passed, the same bartender I worked with then, was still behind the bar! She makes the perfect drink every time…

After a nice visit and delicious Espresso Martini, we decided to walk out in the Hyatt pool area. It’s been years since I’ve been down there! We weren’t really supposed to be on that part of the property but we know the security so most likely we would just be told to leave. The landscape is as beautiful as ever!
