FALL 2019: Vacation With The Parentals...

FALL 2019: Vacation With The Parentals...

In mid-September, we jumped on a flight from Houston to Honolulu. With a cruise planned departing from Hawaii, we decided to arrive a couple days early to enjoy Waikiki. We also figured it would make most sense to arrive a day before my parents so we could meet them at the airport and help with their luggage and navigation to the hotel. After checking into our room at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, we walked down the street for Happy Hour at Maui Brewing Company! Cocktails and pupus… the perfect start to our holiday!

All went as planned. We took an Uber to the airport and met the Parentals at their gate. We escorted them to baggage claim, picked up their luggage and took and Uber back to the hotel. Their room would not be ready for several hours due to their early arrival but they had our room, so it was perfect! We explored the area a bit and decided it was time for Duke’s! Mai Tai time!

The next morning was cruise day! We got up relatively early, walked a few blocks and had an amazing breakfast at Heavenly Island Lifestyle. There is usually a long line outside but definitely worth the wait! All fresh ingredients…Since it was vacation time, we started with Mimosa’s… mango flavored. I had the Loco Moco with quinoa instead of rice… OMG! Delicious!

Amazingly, I forgot to take a photo of my delicious breakfast! Oops… All I could think about while I was eating was Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”… This trio watched my every move as I ate. Then, as soon as I finished, the swarmed in for the last taste! Obviously, they are practiced at this move as they felt quite comfortable and had no fear of us.

My mom loved the wall decor in the restaurant… so I took a photo. It was a simple design, soothing colors and a tryptic. Very tropical feel to it.

With breakfast a success, we walked back to grab our luggage and once again got an Uber. Very entertaining young lady who shared with us that she only picked us up because she was on her way to the beach and we were going in the right direction. Work wasn’t really her “thing”, she preferred to hang out with friends and read. Her very special parting words? “I think it’s so cool that you still travel at your age” Ouch… Boarding was quick and we were able to drop off our luggage in record time. Now it was time for our first cocktail in Schooner Bar over looking Honolulu.
