Getaway Port Stops!

Getaway Port Stops!

Arriving in Cozumel, I usually don’t step off the ship. Having visited so many times, I usually enjoy the empty ship. This time, we had errands to run so off we went. If I’m heading to shore, a quick stop at the No Name Bar is a must. Dark and divey, this hole in the wall is a great place to spend a port day. If you click on the photo and zoom in on the right-hand photo, you will see the umbrellas and a bit of the pool. When visiting this bar, you can enjoy your drinks/lunch in the bar or out by the pool for no extra charge. We chose to hang out with the bartender… tacos and sangria!

… a large sangria, at that! Perfect combination of the wine and fruit. Tacos were excellent. Now to take care of our errands. Not sure how I did it, but I forgot my hair straightener. Not wanting to scare all onboard, I headed to the large market across the street. It has everything! Finding a pretty good straightener for $14 was a great deal! Roxanne got some souvenirs, and I searched out my charcuterie board bowl

From the shore, our ship sits in beautiful blue waters. This area has quite a bit of boat traffic (tours, etc) but the color of the water is so inviting! There are nearby beaches. This time we were docked at such a convenient location.

Roxanne decided to get a little information from this “man”… he really didn’t have much to say.

Our ship is definitely a “mega”. There is a lot to like about NCL Getaway but things have changed since I last sailed with them. So much to do on this ship, the megas under the NCL brand are great for doing repositioning (TransAtlantic/TransPacific) because the activities are never ending. Several choices in restaurants allows you to switch it up each night.

Dinner in the Teppanyaki restaurant was incredible! They definitely took notice of my dietary restrictions and created an amazing meal. Quite subtle in their actions, they discreetly let me know that the meal was safe for me to enjoy. One night of normalcy! Our chef, Josh… what a talent! It’s common for Teppanyaki chefs to sing, getting the diners engaged with sing-a-long songs, but Josh took it to a new level. The entire room cheered for him. His voice was outstanding and his song choices were different than the norm. We had such a great experience that we decided to cancel our reservation on Saturday night and inistead celebrate Roxanne’s birthday with Josh!
