Sea Day and Cozumel

Sea Day and Cozumel

As usual, my first course of action is decorating the cabin door! Makes it very easy to locate the room since they all look the same. Swirlies, magnets and festive decorations. It’s fall so we have the “fall theme”. Could be considered a bit cluttered, but it makes me happy… so cluttered it is!

With Roxanne safely onboard, we sailed away… it was time to sail away. Originally, we would have sailed during pure daylight at 4pm. Due to “unforeseen circumstances”… we departed after 5:30. What we experienced, still amazes me!

Each has their own way of settling into cabin life. Our space is small so I unpacked, hung everything up with some items on shelves. Then it’s time to decorate the door and room… With adrenaline still flowing, Roxanne had a slightly difficult time organizing! We laughed so hard… I told her to just throw a towel over the pile, throw on an outfit and go to dinner. We have fourteen days to get organized.

Before dinner, we enjoyed a celebratory “I can’t believe I made it” cocktail in the “R Bar”. Apparently, it was no secret that the ship had a late arrival. We started to tell the bartender the story and she was aware. An officer on the elevator asked how my trip was going so far and I told him it was great since my friend made it onboard. He said, “Oh yes, Miss Roxanne made it!”. She’s famous!

Sleeping off the panic of boarding day, we leisurely prepared for our day. Coffee… a little more cabin organizing and out to lunch. In the Schooner Bar, which has floor to ceiling windows, I ran into a couple of characters from our Brilliance of the Seas adventure. Mike and Bob used to be married to two sisters and remained friends.

Lunch was fantastic in Chops Grill. We are cruising bougie style… pretending to have money! haha Mimosas, steaks… deliciousness!

Dressed for dinner, we walked down to Giovanni’s Table. Considering Roxanne wouldn’t have been on the ship under normal circumstances, every day seems a treat! We met Chris for pre-dinner drinks and off to dinner. Afterwords, we enjoyed dancing in the nightclub.

First view off the balcony! Hello Cozumel. For the most part, I’ve stopped going to shore in Cozumel because it’s a great day to enjoy the ship without guests. Today, we decided to sleep in, have coffee and head to shore for a quick look.

Picture time! With the ship as our backdrop, we were able to catch a moment with no other tourists to get in our way, we snapped our obligatory photo. Remember, you can click on the photo to see the full picture. Sometimes they get cut off in posting.

How can you not enjoy such colorful surroundings?!? Every shop, every restaurant… eye catching and playful storefronts. We strolled through the shops. The heat… stiffling. Still, every once in awhile, we catch a breeze and we get a bit of relief!

Roxanne did some bartering! Looking for gifts for her Grandbabies, the shops were not much in the barter mood, but she still managed to get a deal. The problem with Cozumel is that it practices the hard sell. At times, I might want to buy something but the store workers follow shoppers around… showing different items. They leave no time for browsing and decision making.

On our way back to the ship, we stopped by Margaritaville for a quick photo! It’s not that easy climbing in and out of this chair!

As (almost) always, I got my “Selfie with the Ship” photo. Usually, I like to take it with the people I travel with but the last cruise and this one, it just didn’t work out. We still have more stops so it might happen in Columbia or Costa Rica…

Ready for the Sailaway Party! We went to the top deck and waved good-bye to the town of Cozumel on one side. Crossing over to the port side, we waved to the passengers aboard Celebrity Equinox. Usually quite a festive occasion, the Sailaways have been pretty quiet.

Roxanne has a new boyfriend… he is a quiet man. With abs of steel, his strength is what first attracted her. He likes to hang out by the pool most of the time, so we haven’t had dinner with him yet.

We met up with Chris at Izumi’s Sushi. He had been there in the afternoon, so was already famous when we went for dinner. That’s one thing about the cruise ships. Employees ALWAYS remember names… it’s absolutely unbelievable. Only takes one time meeting and we are friends for life! Dinner was great. I had a Champagne Lobster roll and Poke Bowl. This time, I did not bite into a giant piece of wasabi thinking it was an avacado.

Windy but warm, the walk back to our cabins was perfect! I love life at sea! To be able to wander on a ship deck, knowing you’re safe. No worries about finding parking, dealing with car rentals or reservations (all ours were made on day one). Depending on one’s mood, there are so many activites: shows, trivia, music, games. It’s a great life!
