BLOGMAS 2019: Travel Ornaments

BLOGMAS 2019: Travel Ornaments

In the spring, we were able to take a quick trip to visit the Cliffs of Moher. What a spectacular place! Unfortunately, it was extremely windy (to be expected) and bitter cold. I barely made it out of the gift shop! For a moment, I stepped out and snapped a couple of sub-par photos but quickly retreated to the warm visitor’s center. The good news? I was able to begin recreating my collection of travel ornaments!

For my birthday, we took a Caribbean cruise…this was purchased when we visited St Kitt’s. It has been two years since the hurricane so my routine was broken. Somehow, it didn’t even cross my mind to buy ornaments in Florida, St. Lucia, Aruba, Antigua or Nassau. Next time…

St. Thomas is a place I’ve spent much time… land based and cruise port visits. It’s a place in which I am completely comfortable. Glad I remembered to pick up an ornament here! Painted on a sand dollar, this little gem will go nicely on a tree one day. (Next year)

Barbados is another favorite! This was my first visit… a longer, land based trip would be nice. This was also part of the birthday cruise on the Crown Princess. I’ll have to do a “catch up” blog on that trip! It was nonstop fun!

Unbelievable! This ornament, from a recent Trans-Pacific cruise was the ONLY one I bought! It just wasn’t in my mind…A blog on the trip will be coming soon… Waikiki/Honolulu to Pepeete (no ornament), Moorea (no ornament), Bora Bora (NO ORNAMENT), Wellington, NZ (no ornament), Picton NZ, (guess what… no ornament!!!). Hard to believe! Now I have to search for the same cruise and do it again!!!

Ten days after returning from Sydney, we jumped aboard the Liberty of the Seas for a Halloween cruise. Out of three stops, I only purchased one ornament because I really… REALLY thought I bought them in Cozumel and Costa Maya! I’m sure I did but don’t see them anywhere… since we are still in rebuilding mode, it’s not like they would be tucked away in storage… we still have no shelves. Again, it’s a good excuse to return :-)

The best news is, I just made an accounting of travel plans locked in for 2020 and I will be able to buy 31 new additions… so far. Leave me alone with a computer for too long and I’m sure there will be more locations!
