Beers and Basketball...
Ironically, we had to drive by the "Sobering Center" to get to the brewery we decided to check out... a sign?
With tickets to the Houston Rockets basketball game, we decided to try a new brewery. We came up with "8th Wonder" a brewery mere blocks from Toyota Center.. They encourage game parking by charging $5.00 but giving a bottle cap for a beer. Let me explain... the way the system works at 8th Wonder is you purchase bottle cap to be redeemed for brews. $5.00 for one bottle cap, $12.00 for 3 bottle caps. They also have merchandise for sale.

Though you can sit inside the warehouse style indoor area, it is far more festive to sit out in the yard. On a day like today, sunny... 80 degrees and a game day, it is definitely a relaxing environment for a great beer at much better prices than at the stadium!
On the edge of the large outdoor seating area, are these tall statues of ... The BEATLES!!! I had read about them and asked around to see if anyone knew where they were. Lo and behold... they are in the yard of the 8th Wonder. They are SO tall!
We walked three blocks from the brewery to the stadium, arriving just as the game started. We were in the seats we enjoy... the first row of the top tier. I mean, of course we would love to sit down low but at this point, rebuilding our flooded home is a priority so we will stick with these seats! I believe it's the 5th game this season in the same basic area. The Rockets won in OT!
As we walked out, I stopped to snap a picture of the flags. I stood and watch the stands emptying out, the court being swept up and the flags proudly displayed... it was time to head home. Only a few more games of the regular season. Oh... and it's just about time for the Houston Astros to start their season!!! Go ASTROS!!!
