Return to sea... FINALLY!

Return to sea... FINALLY!

Tahoe City

Neither rain nor snow will stop me from reaching my destination… the season to return to life at sea has arrived! The time? 1:52am… leaving Tahoe City, heading to Sacramento Airport. We have a 5:35am flight so there’s no time to waste!

Lav with a view

Well, we made it… barely! Picked up “seat requests”, checked luggage and hurried through the security line. Though slightly stressful, we did manage to get the last four seats on standby. Both couples got to sit together. With the first flight only going to LAX, we could still get a little nap in.

Notice the restroom with a view? First time I’ve ever taken a photo in the airplane lav! Wondering if people spend more time because it’s such a novelty.

Nonrev fairies were with us! All four got comfort plus seats on the flight from LAX to IAH. Once on the ground, we picked up our airport car and headed to Galveston. What would a Texas mini-road trip be without a stop at Buc-ee’s! Can you tell we got our second wind???

Clarion Point Hotel in Galveston is the perfect place to stay. Simple but well located, right across from the water and Pleasure Pier.. Upon arrival, we found out the reasonable rate for the night, included up to ten days free cruise parking! Twenty dollars round trip shuttle drive to the port, the front desk clerk suggested we drop our party and the luggage off at the pier and then only one has to pay for the ride. Great idea!

Sunday nights in the shoulder season are not the most happening in Galveston, but we managed a little fun! Arriving a little too late to enjoy the rides on Pleasure Pier, we did enjoy the lights and the smell of sea air.

My better half avoids the camera… but our friends don’t mind! We went for cocktails and appetizers on the pier at Bubba Gump’s. Perfect spot. Now it’s time for bed… doubt I’ll be able to sleep with all the excitement! Keep in mind, our cruise life ended in February 2020 on the16 day, Sydney to Singapore itinerary. Due to the uncertainty of Covid, Singapore did not want to take foreign visitors so the cruise line allowed people to disembark at any port between Tasmania and Perth. We decided to stay until the bitter end… once arriving in Perth (Fremantle), we were offered two extra nights at no charge with free internet, to make arrangements to return to the USA… and that was the end. 11 canceled cruises later, this will be our grand return!
