Jet lag is for amateurs...

From Snow to Sunshine... Whew!

From Snow to Sunshine... Whew!

Living in an igloo has been interesting… It’s a bit depressing. With the amount of snow we’ve received this year, it has crossed my mind that we will never see the ground again! Though my dogs love powder, the Blue Merle has shorter legs and gets a bit nervous when she sinks up to her neck. Lately, she’s allowed her long-legged brother to carve a path for her.

Our travel buddies met us in Houston… we had a couple of meals out. First night, Zammitti’s Italian… delicious! Second night, the former Fiesta Azteca (where we basically lived after Hurricane Harvey). Newly reopened as Azul Agave, the food was fresh… amazing! The margaritas were large and tasty!

Just before departure time, we received notice that Ruby Princess had experienced several cases of Norovirus. Due to the need for a deep clean, boarding would be delayed by several hours. Princess provided an onboard credit for the “trouble”. We made the best of it by parking the car and going for a Mimosa brunch at The Hearsay on The Strand.

With a few cruises under our belt, we told our travel buddies to just follow us. We led them into the Platinum/Elite line, which bypasses longer lines. No one questioned them being with us. Then up the escalator to the Platinum/Elite waiting area. We would be among the first twenty people on board… Once we got on the ship, my husband realized he didn’t have his phone. We tried calling it, he went back to the waiting area to look for it but the area had been cleaned.

While he was looking, Lara and I went all the way to the top and were first at the pool bar! Finally! Vacation time!

Our rooms weren’t ready until just before dinner. Luggage showed up after dinner… luckily, I packed my door decorations in the carry on bag. I know it’s goofy… but I like dressing up my cabin door!

Our first meal was at a Specialty Restaurant called Salty Dog Gastropub. A small room off the Wheelhouse Bar holds a dozen pub height tables. Fortunately, the menu had a couple of Gluten Free/Nightshade Free options. This was calamari breaded with corn meal! It was so good… and unexpectedly filling!

Not at all in a hurry to do anything at all… I walked through the main floors of the ship. This bartender caught my eye! He created eight different martinis and shook them while stacked. Then he poured each into its own martini glass. Pretty impressive!

With wifi slower than slow, I’ll post this now and continue on a new blog page. Right now is the only time I’ve been able to open the web design page!
