South America: Here We Come!

South America: Here We Come!

We packed up and headed to the airport on the morning of November 22. It was time to break away from clean up and rebuilding. This trip was paid for a year ago so... off we went. We started off with an American Airlines flight to Miami. It all went smoothly. Next was an Uber ride to our hotel in Fort Lauderdale. What a luxury! For $26, Karel picked us up in his incredible vehicle. It was spotless! His car was equipped with waters, chargers and brochures for nearby attractions. What a treat!

We made it to our Fort Lauderdale hotel comfortably. Our one night stay was at Hyatt Pier 66, which I don't actually think is a Hyatt any longer. Also, the main tower at the hotel was damaged by Hurricane Irma but they went to great lenghts to have the grounds ready. New palm trees were planted and the pool was perfect! Just what the doctor ordered!

Our room had a nice view of the canal. Unfortunately, there was a little domestic disturbance next door that interrupted our peace and quite. However, anything was better than being caught in the middle of our rebuild!

While at the hotel, we had a nice lunch. The sandwiches were HUGE! We actually should have split one. After a nap, we went to the bar for one cocktail and to talk to other guests. Amazingly, we met a very nice lady who would be joining us on the ship!

Rested and ready to go, we shuttled to the pier and boarded Celebrity Infinity! It took a bit of effort to create a wine package for the 15 day journey, but with that taken care of, we took a little nap. An afternoon snack was sent to our cabin. It was perfect while I unpacked and got settled.

We took a little journey around the ship to acclimate ourselves. Our cabin was conveniently located. Next came dinner in the main dining room. It was delicious! I had salmon and Barry had roasted chicken. Dessert came in the form of Barry's favorite Pinot Noir... Belle Glos.

Then time for bed... after the past three and a half months, rest is a priority!
