Sea Day Fun

Sea Day Fun

What we do most on cruises… play games! We had plenty of time and excellent spaces to spend our day in fierce competition. Having carried Five Crowns and Mexican Train with us, we had everything we needed to fill the day. This may have been my worst luck ever! I got slaughtered in both games… I’ll redeem myself next sea day when our friends from the East Coast board in Adelaide!

After our games, it was time to read… Never again will we see a sunny day and no guests haggling over seats! My favorite thing about long cruises, is I can catch up on reading. With magazines and books, my time will be filled and the relaxing days pass too quickly!

Of course we signed up for the Captain’s Wine Club Tasting. Quite a variety… France, Spain, New Zealand, Australia, Italy and of course… my favorite…Napa, California. Though we prefer reds, we have tried experimenting with a few whites. We are definitely accustomed to California wines… and love a good Super Tuscan… it was interesting to see the Aussie’s turn their nose up at the two we loved (Gaja and Caymus) and express sheer joy at the Cloudy Bay from New Zealand and Langmeil Valley Floor from Australia…which we were not fond of. It’s definitely an acquired taste. Maybe one day…

As we walked toward Happy Hour, we saw the staff setting up the champagne fountain. Thinking back, we probably should have joined in on this fun because it’s the one time it would be possible to get near it! The Piazza is usually so full, it’s impossible to get a good photo. Crowds don’t thrill me :-) Also, we received notice that our friends decided not to join the ship in Adelaide. They were planning on a 13 day cruise to Singapore and figured four days was too much hassle. Instead, back on the plane… Adelaide > Sydney > Minneapolis > Dulles. Another trip will have to be planned together in the future!

What do you do when your friends cancel? Find new friends! Sadly, tomorrow is the last day for this fun couple. Their home town is Adelaide so it had been their plan all along to take a six day cruise from Sydney. They did give us some tips on what to do in port… We exchanged contact info and will find a fun cruise in the future… or just visit Adelaide for a land based trip.

With the ever shrinking passenger count, we have been moved to a table for two in another main dining room. Dinner was my favorite! Lobster and shrimp… “Surf and Surf”! We had no one near us, even in this condensed version of assigned seating… In the center of the room, large shared tables were full. We don’t play well with others so we chose to keep our table for two.
