More Prague...
The St Charles Bridge spans across the Vitava River. Construction on this bridge started in 1357. It was important because it linked the lands of Old Town and the Castle area.
Crossing over from Old Town, where we stayed, toward the Prague Castle area were many shops and restaurants. With the clear skies, many were out shopping and enjoying the outdoor cafes. We found a crepe stand on the other side of the bridge.
Walking through the streets of Prague is like walking into a time machine. Fall colors added to the impressive architecture. These vines were turning a lovely red color creating such a contrast to the beige buildings.
The textures on Schwarzenbersky Palace were quite unique. There is a museum inside. The area surrounding this castle is great for walking. There is no need for a vehicle in Prague.
All throughout Prague, Absinthe is served. It is a high level alcohol spirit. It is considered to be a hallucinogen and a highly addictive psychoactive drug. It has been illegal in the United States since 1915.
Magical... the lighting on the buildings was magnificent. The setting sun on architecture with such beautiful lines. Spires and domes created a unique skyline. It changes all during the day with the shadows of the sun. Reflections on the river... the bridge... oh, what a sight!
Each night in the town square, colorful lights danced on the buildings. Music can be heard throughout the plaza... children dance, cameras flash. It is a sight to see! Play the video to see for yourself!
The buildings in the town square are each lit up. Some lit from the top, some from the bottom... I tried my best to get a good shot. Time to practice with my camera settings a little more!
Just outside the main Old Town Square, we came across this building. Amazing! I love the statues carved into the face... so detailed. Czech Republic has so many unique designs! I would like to return and do a blog on just the architecture... learn about the designers and builders. There is so much history on the streets of Prague.
Again trying to capture the lighting and give it justice... but I failed. I just struggle with settings. This building ended up looking a bit washed out... but still beautiful!
Looking for a place to stop for a drink and snack, we saw this spot. A circular building that looked like a fun place... we arrived just slightly too late. The last few patrons were finishing up their meals... so we wandered onward.
We saw groups of people walking down this pedestrian path... so we followed them. Again, we came upon alleys of shops, all closed and restaurants... all closed.
Finally! We found a spot right in Old Town Square... straight across from the astronomical clock. It was a mere steps from our flat. The waiter greeted us and asked, "Do you know how old the astronomical clock is"... Jeremy, without hesitation, answered. We were seated at a perfect table right next to the clock. So, we had a perfect view of the midnight show of the clock...
Walking back to our flat, we turned and took one last look at this incredible square... the lights, the architecture of the buildings and the clock tower... unbelievable!!!
