Jet lag is for amateurs...

Lake Tahoe: Part 2

One of the most photographed locations in Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay is a state park. Parking can be difficult in the peak summer months. This area is closed during the winter when the roads close due to heavy snowfall. Across the street from the main parking area is the Eagle Falls, Eagle Lake trail head. I will write about that in a future post, as I recreate our travels.

They Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is located in Incline Village, Nevada. The Hyatt is one of three North Shore casinos on the Nevada side. It is approximately five miles from the California border near Crystal Bay. Guest of the Hyatt can sit in cabanas on the beach. What a view!

One of the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe restaurants, Lone Eagle Grille has a beautiful wine list, awesome appetizers and tropical type cocktails. When a friend from Kauai visited, we sat out by the fire pit and had food and drinks. It was a perfect evening!

Another example of Tahoe wildflowers, this one has a bee doing its thing! There's no better place to be in the summer...

Firesign Cafe in Tahoe City is our go-to place for breakfast. All fresh ingredients, my favorite is the Huevos Rancheros. Coffee cakes are baked fresh and are delicious! Barry can't resist! They serve great coffee, or a Bloody Mary :-) The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch. It is not unusual to have a 30+ minute wait, so an annex was opened on the property. This area has specialty coffees so you can sit on the benches breathing in the mountain air while you wait. https://www.firesigncafe.com/

Summer = baseball. Reno Aces is the AAA team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. With Reno's warm, often hot summers, evening games are pleasant. There are a couple of fun restaurants on the grounds of the baseball stadium. It's a fun place to go with friends!

The field is in an intimate setting. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Sometimes we sit on the grass area and sometimes behind homeplate. We often stay at Harrah's Hotel and Casino so we can walk to and from the game. Depending on the time of week/year, Harrah's can have some of the best prices in the area.

Also in nearby Reno (45 minute drive from Lake Tahoe), is the Grand Sierra Resort. With more than 1900 rooms, GSR has several restaurants, a nightclub, bowling alley, movie theater, wine bar, awesome pool area and a showroom. Each summer, we see many concerts usually bands and recording artists from the seventies and eighties. This year we saw Counting Crows and Matchbox Twenty with Rob Thomas. We got tickets in the VIP area for this show and my crush on Mr. Thomas grew! Excellent show!

A week later, we saw Boz Scaggs. It was the second time we saw him at GSR. With this small showroom, there's not a bad seat in the house.

My Sunday brunch favorite is Garwood's, Home of the Wet Woody. You have to try one of the blended rum drinks. Wet Woody Wednesday's, the drinks are half price during happy hour. Many of the lakefront bars have their own version of this drink. (Best to take TART or the party bus if you plan on drinking those!) https://www.garwoods.com/

As I said, sometimes it gets busy at work and I end up working overtime. No matter how tired I am, I still can't resist photographing a beautiful Tahoe sunrise... so incredibly serene and peaceful.
