Lazy Days
We began our day with a cappuccino from the Cafe Lattitudes. With the Centrum seating full, we walked up to the Schooner Bar. This is a giant room full of cozy couches and seating areas. I’ll take a picture and include it in tomorrow’s update. While drinking our coffee, I noticed a couple behind us moving the furniture around. Curious, I turned to see what game they were playing… it wasn’t a game at all. They started working on a jigsaw puzzle! Right in the middle of the floor… ouch the knees! I’d last ten minutes!
We spent a short time in the sun. An hour in the Fitness Center… yep, still sticking to it! Surprise, surprise! We went back to our cabin and took a nap, did a little reading and dressed for dinner. Milica had a special creation waiting for me! The best Chocolate Martini in the world! Definitely cheated on the Keto diet!!! Dessert before dinner…
Apparently we didn’t get the memo. Our Cruise Compass stated the dress code would be casual for this evening. We weren’t informed it was “Clown Day”. Actually, no one else knew either! Oh the funny people we see on ships!
Giovanni’s Table is a family style Italian restaurant on Brilliance of the Seas. The decor is simple yet elegant… and the food… a.m.a.z.i.n.g! On TransAtlantic crossings, the specialty restaurants don’t fill up very often. It’s nice to enjoy our meal in a more peaceful atmosphere.
Our wine choice for this evening… Barry’s favorite Italian… Mormoreto. It was incredible from the first drop. On this ship, we don’t have a “Nikola” who cares for the wines. He always prepares them by decanting and letting the wines breathe prior to our dinners. Here, no one really has that love of the product. Opening bottles and putting the cork back in immediately or if we request a bottle be decanted, they pour the wine in and take the bottle and the cork away. Hmmm…
With only a few guests in Giovanni’s Table, the service was impeccable. We ordered a meat and cheese plank to enjoy with our wine. Afraid to fill up too quickly, we skipped any other starters and went straight to the Ossobuco. The portion was so big, I could only eat about half of it! Can’t believe I didn’t take a picture! It smelled so good, I just dove right in!
We have met many people so far. One lady who is sailing back to her home near Amsterdam actually lived in Kingwood, Texas for a few years. Small world... We are signed up for Chef's Table. Sunday we will join a group who had so much fun, they will be attending for a second time. Can't wait!
