Jet lag is for amateurs...

Voyager: Day Three at Sea

Voyager: Day Three at Sea

Packed in my suitcase was Five Crowns, Mexican Train and Rumikub. The travel Rumikub only weighs 1.5 pounds so it’s an easy one to carry. We played again in the Viking Crown Lounge with the great view. It’s usually pretty quiet during the day… but gets a little crazy at night. We’ve also been doing quite a bit of reading…

As we are heading to Barcelona, there is a large population of Spanish. They are a lively bunch! Enthusiastically singing to songs played by the DJ. Once the music begins, they are out of the seats and onto the dance floor! Dancing with a partner is not necessary… just get out there!

Though I forgot to take pictures throughout the day… and at dinner… I did manage to take a couple from the balcony. On the left is looking up the ship (we are aft). Beyond the lights you see, the ship takes a slight turn and there is a long row of balconies! Picture on the right is our view of the Perfect Storm! It looks beautiful when lit up at night. We will definitely visit that slide on the next sea day after Nassau.

Now… for a quick update. This photo might explain why we are currently in serious trouble. At the top of the page, you can see the San Jacinto River flows into Lake Conroe. That lake provides water to the City of Houston. Therefore, they hold on to the water as long as possible. There has been quite a bit of rainfall and the level of Conroe became dangerous so they released at a pretty high rate. We are on the West Fork of the San Jacinto. Lake Livingston is located near the East Fork… on the right side of the photo. Both forks, feed into Lake Houston. The river was dredged after Hurricane Harvey but it didn’t seem to help very much. So much water, from so many sources are all entering into our lake. Our point(home) is just above the end of the blue line signifying the West Fork. It’s the small piece of land that juts out just before the end of the line. It takes quite a bit of time for the water released, to travel down to Lake Houston and eventually out to the gulf. Currently, the river is expected to crest in the middle of the night Saturday/Sunday and Sunday the forecast calls for more rain… It’s just a waiting game…

Just for perspective, this is the waters beginning to rise. The park is just around the corner from our house. Many of the roads are water filled and closed. The bridge out of town has been closed for several hours. Houston has had several floods… after Hurricane Harvey, we had people tell us they had flooded and rebuilt seven times. Not me! However, our particular area has not had a problem until Harvey. There has been a Memorial Day Flood, Tax Day Flood and several others… I suppose this will be the Cinco de Mayo flood… Until tomorrow, when certainly I will take more photos. We only plan to go to Nassau for a little bit but I will still get pics!
