Pilot's Wife... Nonrev Life
I'm terribly far behind in my posts... haven't even started Spain. However, this situation just had to be shared! Yesterday, we were supposed to fly out of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam but there was a power outage. I believe the cover page says "Schiphol Closed" but I don't speak Dutch! Anyway, flights canceled... canceled... canceled... I just may be a resident of Amsterdam!
Obviously, with thousands of passengers to reroute... a nonrev with a buddy passer is the LAST person they will deal with. To make matters worse, every time I try to change the buddy pass pairings/date, I get a code that says "Gate Control". No one at the airport would help. Their exact words, "We don't help staff. It's your responsibility to know how to nonrev travel"...
After hours, I finally got in touch with someone via Twitter who tried but got the same error. The person told me the listing HAD to be changed at the gate... but we couldn't get to the gate. So... tomorrow's another day. Barry thinks it's a good time to start my residency. He thinks Dublin sounds good... rent a place and start the clock ticking. Ha! Funny... but sort of feeling like it's not such a crazy idea since I have no idea how long it will take to get out of here. Nonrev fun!
