On the morning of January 25th, I woke up my husband... "Get dressed, we have somewhere to go". He had just worked nine out of the past ten days so he was hoping to sleep in. What he didn't know was that I had suitcases packed in the trunk, passports lifted from his work bag and tickets for a week of fun!

Got him to the airport and flew from Houston to Miami. We took a shuttle to our hotel and got a bite to eat. We decided that since he had been working so hard, we would just hang out in the Club Lounge of the hotel for a light dinner and a glass of wine. This is the view from our room at the Sheraton Airport and Convention Center. The hotel was very convenient, clean but not as quiet as I would have liked. Often airport hotels are built near to sound proof. We were on the tenth floor and heard all of the street noise... horns honking, sirens, garbage trucks. (By the way, I got a series of  txt messages from Expedia at 2am informing me that rooms I had reserved in August would not be available due to Hurricane Irma... they tell me  now?!?!? My son took care of the situation... )

Up early, we took an Uber into the Wynwood Arts District. It was so fun! Lots of people-watching, food, drink and graffiti. One street after another had walls painted. The area had lots of clothing wholesalers, shops and restaurants.

We got a little hungry walking through the Arts District! We were drawn to a place called Kiji Cuzco mainly because we were just in Cusco, Peru a couple months ago. This eclectic restaurant was perfect! The atmosphere in this Peruvian / Asian restaurant couldn't have been better! Friendly staff!

As we checked out the decor of this quaint restaurant, we noticed an outdoor area! Bonus! It was time to pull up a chair, have a beer and order some awesome food!

From our seat we could look into another section of the venue. It seemed there was a little something for everyone... inside booths, outside tables and bar seating. The cook did all his magic next to the bar.

Our order... Barry had Bao Buns. Steamed buns with delicously marinated chicken and an awesome sauce. This is a Peruvian staple! It was my chance to enjoy a little sushi. Barry doesn't like it so I don't often get out for any... This dragon roll was incredible!

Wandering through the Arts District, we found the breweries I had researched. One, the Wynwood Brewing Company, was very simple... small without much atmosphere. Since we had not yet eaten, food was our first priority. Then, after eating, we found a great spot!

Amidst the graffiti'd streets, was a great brewery. Cement Beach Brewery had the atmosphere we had in mind. Seating options included the bar, high top tables and comfortable couch areas. We chose the high top pub style tables. It didn't hurt that the weather was fantastic for sitting outside!

With a variety of choices, I selected the Tangical Wheat IPA. It had the Hefeweizen taste with a hint of tangerine. Perfect for a relaxing, sunny Miami day.

It's all about the socks. These really caught my eye! Not one, but two pairs of colorful socks brightend up the bar!
