Road Trip!

Road Trip!

RTMoneyBoat.jpg

Doesn't look like a shot from the air, does it? Well, with the crazy weather over the past couple of days, flights were delayed, cancelled and a nonrev nightmare! So... we went to Plan B. We went online to track down a one-way car rental. Alamo didn't charge a fee and had the best rate for a midsized car. Dollar was going to be $919, Budget $356 and Alamo... the winner, came in at $89.99 out the door! We picked up a Toyota Corolla and spent about $45 in gas from Miami Airport to George Bush Intercontinental in Houston! Score... Road trip it is! Oh and we loved the paint job on this boat!

By the time we saw this beautiful sunset, we were well on our way to creating our own road trip playlist on Spotify. We kept coming up with songs we like or hadn't heard in ages... songs with "road", "highway", or just traveling in general. It actually made the time fly by! Of course when we crossed into Alabama, we had to play “Sweet Home, Alabama”... If you want to enjoy the playlist we created, click here!

A playlist featuring The Outlaws, War, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and others

After spending the night at a Microtel in Daphne, Alabama, we got back on the road. I asked Barry to start out driving because the map made it look like we'd be crossing many waterways to reach Mobile, Alabama. Well... we saw a little bit of water and then went under it through this tunnel...

We actually enjoyed the drive because of the vast divide between lanes. It allowed us to relax while driving rather than worrying about someone crossing over into our lane. The water down the middle in the divide area was pretty...

Rather quickly, we found ourselves in Mississippi... so... “Mississippi Queen” was added to our playlist!

RTSwamp.jpg

So much swamp land on this route. People out fishing, green trees... it was a better drive than I ever expected!

Finally hit our home state! A little over an hour from home, we have been to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisianna and now TEXAS!

RTHeat.jpg

Arrived home and received the best birthday present ever! HEAT! After four long months with no doors, floors or heat... we finally have heat! The fireplace is back in and running. We can't use it too much since we still don't have doors but it will help break the chill during this unusually cold winter!

My son found a crazy sale on a couch... it's not exactly our favorite, but it will do the trick! We'll be storing it for a few months. Just can't pass up deals when they arise!

FreshStart.jpg

And what's the best way to make a fresh start in the new year after a yucky 2017? With a puppy! Meet Sapphire Na Maka Uliuli The Knight Queen... the bluest eyed Border Collie! She will bring life back into our home. “Sapphire” has a special meaning for us... my wedding ring has sapphires, we were married aboard Sapphire Princess and with deep blue eyes... it was a no brainer.

We wore her out, day one. She likes her new little bed. We are going to have our hands full with this spunky pup!
