BLOGMAS 2019: Travel Shot Glasses

BLOGMAS 2019: Travel Shot Glasses

It’s fun going through the “survivor” glasses. So many memories… some I’ve blogged about, some I need to catch up on. Cozumel (L) has been a cruise port stop many times, as well as a fun land based vacation with friends. In the middle is the only shot glass I thought to purchase on our Ft Lauderdale to Santiago, Chile cruise! Yikes! Oh actually… somewhere in the house is a shot glass from Pisco, Peru. It has the recipe for Pisco Sours printed on the glass. Veracruz (R) is an etched glass that has already held a shot or two…

Boston! Shot glass on the right, I picked up while on a long overnight with my husband. I bid a trip for him that had two nights in Boston because I’ve always wanted to go! Good reminder that I need to blog on this one. It was a fun couple of days! The middle glass is obvious… Guinness… Dublin… We picked this up on one of our many factory tours. On the left… a simple shot glass but one that has so much meaning. This is from our Sapphire Princess cruise in October 2009… our wedding cruise. That trip is absolutely blog worthy!

Three AMAZING trips… Barry’s Bar (L) was a fun port stop on a Norwegian Epic TransAtlantic. With the decision made to wander around town rather than join an excursion, we slipped out of the heat and into this fun little bar. It is a pretty island that we will visit again soon. We' have booked another TA that ends in San Juan. Sydney (C) was a recent trip. My first visit down under. WOW! I am in love with that city! Can’t wait to go back in February! Salamanca (R) is a favorite with our family. We’ve made two visits so far… and will definitely return. Next trip, I will remember to buy glasses in Segovia, Toledo and Avila. All amazing little towns…

Barcelona (L) is almost a home away from home for us. We have made so many extended visits there prior to cruises. Such a lively city! We have our favorite restaurants… a tapas spot, Italian and Irish… all three with great food! The glass in the middle is kind of funny… that is where my husband is based so he spends a lot of time there each week… and I pop in for lunch or to fly to Europe. Costa Maya (R) is an island we have visited on several cruises. When you get off the ship and walk down the pier, our initial impression is that it is a tourist trap. An area made for cruise visitors… full of shops with trinkets. So, we’ve never ventured out. Lately, the past couple of cruises, people we meet or travel with tell us it’s one of their favorite stops. So… it’s time to re-evaluate that location.

The final batch… begins with two glasses from Barcelona but specifically La Sagrada Familia. The vibrant colors are reminiscent of the stunning stained glass inside the cathedral. I just couldn’t pass them by. The center glass was picked up on our vacation to Stockholm, Sweden. What a great visit! We disembarked a cruise in Copenhagen, spend a few days and took a train to Stockholm. Our friends picked us up and delivered us to an amazing boutique hotel. We spent days getting a local’s perspective of the area! On the right, a glass from Tenerife, Canary Islands. We’ve stopped on this island a few times over the years. It reminds me of Kauai, to a degree. We will be returning in 2020…

Going through this has been fun for me! It’s helped me realize how many trips I have yet to chronicle and how many miles we’ve traveled. The travel bug bit me hard…
